Tabi Tabi Po Duwende 4" x 6" Print
$5.00
In the Philippines, we say, "Tabi tabi po" (Excuse me, please stand aside) to ask mythical creatures like a duwende (dwarf) for permission to pass through.
My mom says she does not recall this, and maybe it was just a fever dream, but I remember going to an albularyo (folk doctor) and doing a candle wax ritual. Supposedly, I stepped on a nuno sa punso (a mound where a dwarf lives) while playing outside. Whether it happened or not, that imagery has stuck with me for years!
